Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from any recognized university or equivalent institution. Students appearing in their final year examinations can also apply, but they must possess the essential qualification by the application closing date.

Age Limit

As of 1st August 2025, candidates must be between 20 to 25 years old. This means applicants must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 2000 and not later than 1st August 2005.

Driving License Requirement

Male candidates applying specifically for the Sub Inspector position in Delhi Police must possess a valid Driving License for Light Motor Vehicles (Motorcycle and Car) by the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Measurement Tests. Candidates without this license can still apply for Sub-Inspector positions in CAPFs.

Selection Process

The SSC CPO selection process consists of multiple stages that candidates must clear:

  1. Paper-I: Computer Based Test (CBT) with 200 multiple-choice questions covering General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, and English Comprehension.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST)/Physical Endurance Test (PET): Qualifying tests for physical standards (height, chest) and endurance (races, jumps).
  3. Paper-II: Another Computer Based Test focusing on English language skills with 200 questions.
  4. Detailed Medical Examination (DME): Final stage to ensure candidates meet the required medical standards for the role.

General Intelligence & Reasoning

Analogies, coding-decoding, classification, series, Venn diagrams, puzzles, seating arrangement, syllogism, non-verbal reasoning, spatial visualization, problem-solving, analysis, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetic number series, etc.

Quantitative Aptitude

Number systems, simplification, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, mensuration, data interpretation, percentage, profit & loss, time & work, speed & distance, simple and compound interest, ratio and proportion, average, mixture and allegation, fundamental arithmetical operations, etc.

General Awareness

Current affairs, Indian history, culture, geography, Indian polity, economics, general science, environment, sports, important events, national and international importance, Indian Constitution, scientific research, etc. Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society.

English Comprehension

Reading comprehension, grammar, error spotting, fill in the blanks, synonyms-antonyms, idioms, vocabulary, sentence structure, one-word substitution, sentence improvement, active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech, para jumbles, etc. Candidates’ understanding of the basics of English language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. will be tested.
